We all know how powerful smartphones are today, but there is one thing that limits their potential – the small screen and lack of keyboard. Think about it. How much could you really get done if you had a few extra tools connected to your smartphone? That is where the Superbook comes into play.
Currently available for $99 through its Kickstarter campaign, this handy little device looks like an ultra slim laptop, but it doesn’t have its own storage or processor. It receives its power and all its hardware right from your smartphone, which you connect with a simple USB cable and an app that is free to download. Basically, this device is a type of dock. It has a screen and a keyboard with a trackpad, but not much else. It does include its own battery that lasts approximately 8 hours before needing a recharge.
When you combine your smartphone with this device, you end up with a device that is great for word processing, email and much more – all the basics that people need to get work done.
This isn’t the first time someone has tried to convert a phone into a laptop, but unfortunately none of them have proven durable. Some believe this is because it has taken some time for smartphones to reach the power levels of a basic PC. Today, they have enough power inside them to power our day to day tasks with ease, if only we have the right tools to enable them to do just that.
Currently the Kickstarter campaign has raised over $2 million dollars and at the time of this writing has four days to go. That means you don’t have much more time to reserve one for yourself, at least until it reaches the market where you can bet it will cost more than $99.

With the current amount they have raised, there is no doubt there is a huge demand for this type of device. Heck I am tempted to invest myself. I would love the ability to transform my smartphone into a laptop, as I already use it for so much. The thought of being able to use it for most of my work is definitely appealing. I’m sure most of you would agree.
