Pros

  • Stunning looks
  • Fingerprint scanner that doubles up as a programmable key
  • Fast charging
  • IR blaster
  • Great dual-camera setup

Cons

  • Average battery life
  • Unattractive, heavy interface

Bottom Line

The Huawei Honor 8 has some solid features and great performance, with a striking design that makes other phones in the same price range look downright ugly.

The Huawei Honor 8 is a 2016 5.2-inch smartphone that has received immense praise for its stunning glass and aluminum design. It is not all looks, though, the octa-core processor and 4GB RAM pull their weight giving the phone a solid computing performance. Expect beautiful and super sharp images from the dual camera setup, which look great on the 1080p screen, among other great features the phone has to offer. However, Huawei’s interface is difficult to get used to, with no app drawer, and it is heavy as well, making the phone sluggish during some transitions. Also, while the Honor 8 is not expensive by any means, it faces stiff competition from the likes of the ZTE Axon 7, which costs the same, and unfortunately, trumps it in almost all areas.

Honor 8 is the fanciest-looking Android phones out of China, with an awesome light-refracting glass design and high-end specs. Its dual camera captures photos that are better than its mid-range competition, though the overall software can be a confusing mess sometimes and its rivals provide a better value when it comes to storage and screen real estate.
