Bottom Line

The BlackBerry Priv is one of the best devices the company has ever made, and while core Android users may not be sold, it provides an effective means for BlackBerry fans to get in on the Android way of life.

The BlackBerry Priv is a 2015 5.4-inch smartphone praised for its innovative slide design, physical keyboard, and gorgeous QHD display. It features a nice slide design that reveals a hidden physical keyboard that die-hard BlackBerry users, and some Android users as well, are sure to love. Running on Android, it gives an interface that users will quickly understand, and BlackBerry have included many apps and security features that their long-time users will find familiar. However, the Priv often feels like a “first-generation” device, with its performance wanting during some tasks, and while the physical keyboard is a welcome addition, it often just supplements the touchscreen keyboard than wholly replace it.

Android and an awesome keyboard make the Priv the best BlackBerry in years, but if you're not a keyboard lover and aren't much of a security seeker, you'll find phones that are cheaper, or offer better features than the Priv.

For physical keyboard devotees, there’s not much choice in the smartphone world right now, but BlackBerry does a decent job with the Priv.

The BlackBerry Priv is the mullet of the smartphone world. It's still business in the front, but now there's a party in the back too. It will divide opinion, but this is the best BlackBerry in years.
