Samsung Announces the New Galaxy A8

The rumor mill has been swirling for quite some time over the upcoming Galaxy releases. While we know that Samsung plans on releasing a Galaxy 9 and a Galaxy X, there have been rumors about a third Galaxy smartphone coming as well. In a press release, Samsung has now confirmed these rumors to be true.

The new Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) will be coming next year as the latest in the Galaxy A series, and it looks as though Samsung is beefing up this series with this new release. The new A8 will include a Dual Front Camera and a large Infinity Display. It seems as though Samsung is trying to make the A series a bit sexier, and they just may have succeeded.

“With the release of the Galaxy A8 (2018), we’re bringing our customers’ favourite features from our flagship smartphones, such as the Infinity Display and our first Dual Front Camera with Live Focus, to our Galaxy A series, which is already known for its premium design,” said Conor Pierce, VP of IT & Mobile, Samsung UK & Ireland. “The Galaxy A8 exemplifies our continued dedication to meeting the needs of our consumers by providing them with greater choice and convenience.”

Here’s a rundown of the specs:

It comes with a host of cool features, but really the biggest enhancement has to be in the cameras. The A8 comes with a 16MP F1.7 rear camera and a 16MP+8MP F1.9 Dual Front Camera so you can snap amazing pictures on both cameras. I imagine selfies will start looking even better really soon.

It remains to be seen how the A8 will stack up against some of the other smartphones in terms of popularity, but it is a welcome addition to the Galaxy series of smartphones from Samsung. The estimated release date is April of next year, so we will have to wait a few months before we can really get our hands on one. But so far, I like what I see.

What do you think? Will these new upgrades to the A8 make you consider buying one, or will you stick with the S series instead? Tell me your thoughts in the comments below. We would love to hear from you.
