Samsung has released an Android 7 Nougat Beta for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge. Could this be a sign that we are getting closer to an official release?
Early in November, Samsung announced a beta program for Android 7.0 on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones. Now, the company has expanded the program and added more users to test the latest release. The latest release, which is the third release in as many weeks, brings with it tons of Nougat goodness to the Samsung platform.
This latest version of the build, brings improvements to the notification shade. You can now use a grid layout for the toggles and you can even adjust your brightness at the top of the toggles. The release also brings with it bug fixes such as Wi-Fi disconnection issues and the slow lighting of the screen when you wake it up.
If you are curious about some of the features of Android 7.0 Nougat, check out this list below:
- Multi-Window support
- Night mode
- Better Multi-language support
- New emojis
- Improved settings
- Virtual Reality Support
- New keyboards
- Improved Speed and Performance
These are just some of the new features you can expect in Android 7.0 on your Samsung smartphone. It should be noted, that some of these features have already been around on the Samsung line of phones. This is because they run their own UI on top of Android. Still, you can expect to see Samsung take advantage of some of these built in features instead of relying on their custom UI. At the same time it is also expected that Samsung will enhance their UI at the same time to provide an even more fluid experience when using Android.
For those of you that don’t bother with the Samsung UI, having some of these features that Samsung has been using will be a welcome addition as well. The biggest question right now is how will Samsung implement some of these new features.
Are you thinking about joining the Android 7 Nougat program for your Samsung device? Here’s what you have to do. To join, you will have to install the Galaxy Beta Program app on your phone. Then, follow these steps:
- Open the Galaxy Beta Program app and tap on Start.
- Tap the menu button in the top-right corner and then select Registration.
- Read the information and then tap on Registration at the bottom.
- Tap on the check box that you agree and then tap Agree at the bottom.
Once you have completed the registration, be patient. It will take a little bit for your account to receive the beta update. Once you have the update, you can then update to other releases manually via OTA update.
Everyone is happy to see Samsung continue to move forward with their release of the next version of Android. It brings with it tons of features that users will love on their phones and should be a great match for the premium phones released by Samsung.
